This is a sampling of some early work from the age of 18 to 25. Each represents a good body of work in that style. The painting, Crotch O' Faith, is 108" x 108" (nine- foot square). It was exhibited at Leo Castelli Gallery in New York City, Portland Museum of Art in Maine and last I heard it was owned by the Samuel P. Harn Museum in Florida. Most of these paintings are extremely large. They appear deceptively small, for example, the IBM computer painting, Scum Drum and The sinker are nine feet in height, all oil on canvas. The last two pieces are a matching set, Capitalist Pig and The Sower, each taken by an old girlfriend. I can't tell you how many pieces I lost to old girlfriends...
All these drawings were done when I was 18. If you look close you can see a number on each one. I timed each one...10 minutes, 15 minutes and so on...I made hundreds of these. I did the playboy bunny drawing at age sixteen. I took the image from, you guessed it, Playboy. It's Barbi Benton, whom I believe was at one time Hugh Heffner's wife. "Sleeping giant" is a ten-foot wide drawing. My brother was the model.
