Anyone who does album covers for Black Flag and the Minutemen is okay in my book. What's interesting about Pettibone is that he began his career highly academic in a conceptual manner, copying famous artists works in miniature. It was in my opinion only mildly interesting. His mature work, ala Charlie Manson and Sonic Youth is far superior and more individual. He is today's rock n' roll artist. I own a limited series comic booklet he signed. If I were wealthy I would buy a dozen of his drawings. They are cool as hell.
