Mark Tansey
Mark Tansey would be easy to write off as an illustrator if he wasn't so damn painterly. I have loved his work from the first time Im saw it. His social commentary is a mixture of comedy and tragedy. They sometimes remind me of individual Twilight Zone episodes frozen in paint. The large scale of his paintings only adds to the effect. Historical references sometimes become a bit too literal but his sheer talent and ingenuity always redeems him. I have yet to see a Tansey I didn't like.
